Change Of Schudule and On To State!

Change in Next Week's Schedule
To allow our community to support the girls' volleyball team at next week's state tournament, changes to the schedule have been made. There will be a note coming home with all Red Oak students on Friday, November 2nd, detailing the schedule changes for next week. Here is the quick version:

Wednesday, November 7th
There will be a school-wide/community pep rally at the high school.
It will begin at 2:15 pm and end at 2:45 pm. Middle School students
will be walking to and from the high school with regular dismissal from the Middle School taking place at 3:10 pm.

Thursday, November 8th
Two hour early dismissal from school. This will allow families and
staff traveling to Cedar Rapids time to get there for the 7:15 PM game.

Friday, November 9th
Due to the lateness of the game and the chances of the girls playing further
in the tournament, we will have no school on Friday. This day will be made
up on Friday, May 23rd.

Congrats Red Oak Volleyball Team!

On to State!!

Parent Suport Group

There is a parent suport group meeting September 11, 2007 at 6:00 in the FACS room at the Middle School. The meeting will be an organizational meeting and we will discuss what information the group is interested in.

If you can not make it tonight, you are always welcome at any of the parent meetings. There is no "membership" or requirements to be in attendance in order to come to future meetings.

I'm looking forward to a new year and working with the parents of our great kids at the Middle School!

Super Saturday Study Group

Super Saturday Study Group will start on September 8th for all grades here at the Middle School. Students need to talk to one of their teachers about getting on the list so we know who is planning on coming. Saturday school is from 9:00 am - 11:00 am each Saturday.

This is a time to work on homework, make up a test, read in a quiet place, or get individual help with school work. It is not a place for punishment, and is not assigned as an alternative to detentions. We want students to feel welcome to come to school to get what they need for academic success.

News From The First Two Days!

It was so delightful to see all of the students back at school - they sure have grown!

We had a little problem with the computer at lunch time on both days. The students do have time to eat lunch - if they were toward the end of the line, I told them to take their time and eat - I would make sure the teachers knew what had happened.

Lunch would go faster if the students would memorize their lunch number, and once they get their food, not visit with friends so much that they feel rushed to eat faster.

All the bugs will work out -- I want to thank the students for their patience and understanding. Computers are great - if they work when you need them to! Our kids are awesome!
